Junior Girls Coaching at Portmarnock [ Irish Ladies Open July 12 08]

Junior Golf Ireland invited all the the Junior Girls from Arklow Golf Club to attend a coaching session given by PGA Professionals at the Irish Ladies Open at  Portmarnock  Hotel & Golf Links on Saturday July 12 2008 which was sponsored by AIB.

Due to our large numbers Junior Golf Ireland allocated two hours coaching to us from 10am to noon. We had 26 girls taking part and the PGA coaches were very helpful and friendly, and the girls learned a lot from them.

The day was a great success with the girls meeting and having photos taken with John Solheim ( owner of PING) . Four of our older girls Cathy, Laura . Megan and Amy competed against John in a fun pitching competition . The girls won and John Solheim gave each a Ping Cap.

As the coaching area was beside the practice ground the girls got to see the top lady golfers in action.

The day ran very smoothly from start to finish and was enjoyed by everyone. The girls were a credit to Arklow Golf Club and they received many compliments from spectators at the Tournament.

The Professionals were very enthusiastic about the the girls' ability and future in golf.

We hope to be invited again next year.
